Butterfly Effect by Travis Scott is a great song. The beat is memorable, and Scott's heavily auto-tuned vocals fit perfectly. There are two things about this song that I absolutely love. The first is the electric tones that are highlighted throughout the song, and the second is the pace of Scott's voice.
Some rap songs have extremely fast, hard to follow lyrics, and that makes it hard to really love them. Don't get me wrong, songs like Eminem's Rap God are still very good, and the fact that he can rap that fast is incredible, but it's very hard to follow and that can sometimes turn you off of a song. Butterfly Effect's electronic tones come in in many parts of the song. In the chorus, there is an echo after each sentence, and it definitely has the electronic tones. In fact, the beat itself has very electronic roots, but it is sort of drowned out by the singing. Sometimes the vocals in a dong are all you remember about it, and that is what happens with Butterfly Effect. In the music video, there is a lot of flashing colors and muddy video, and this reminds me of what you hear in EDM music. All in all, Butterfly Effect by Travis Scott is one of the best songs I listened to in 2017.
