A few days ago, I created my Top Ten Songs of 2017 list. In this post, I will share it with you and go over why I like the songs.

10. Electric Touch

by A R I Z O N A

Electric Touch by A R I Z O N A is one of my favorite songs this year because I am a huge fan of electronic music (I even make my own, which I will post here at some point) and this song is a really great electronic song. It isn't too loud and crazy (like most of my music), but it does have a beat drop in the chorus. The vocals are really great here, and the sounds in the background are awesome too. This song makes me want to jump up and start dancing when I hear it, and for that it has earned the 10th spot in my Top Ten of 2017.

9. At My Best

By Machine Gun Kelly ft. Hailee Steinfeld

8. Saturnz Barz

by The Gorillaz ft. Popcaan

Saturnz Barz by The Gorillaz is one of my favorite songs this year because of its diversity. As you can probably tell by now, I love rap songs with electronic backgrounds. Surprisingly, I was only introduced to the Gorillaz this year. I listened to their music non-stop for a week, and when their new album Humanz came out, it was really exciting. Saturnz Barz is a a sort of hypnotizing, bob your head type of song, and Popcaan's vocals are incredible. This song has a lot of different things to it, but it is overall the best song in Humanz, and my 8th favorite song of the year.

7. T-Shirt

by Migos

T-Shirt by Migos is one of my favorite songs this year because of a few things. The first is the bob your head style that any good rap song should have, and the second is the layout. The background vocals tie in very well to the actual music and producer duo Nard & B did a great job with the timing of the background vocals. The instruments in the background aren't the usual ones for Rap songs, but the fact that this song is as good as it is just proves how versatile Migos is, and that helps make it my 7th favorite song of the year.

6. Let You Down

by NF

5. Corner Store

by Macklemore ft. Dave B & Travis Thompson

Corner Store by Macklemore ft. Dave B and Travis Thompson is one of my favorite songs this year for a few different reasons. It is my favorite song in Macklemore's long-awaited album Gemini, and it definitely deserves it. The chorus is super catchy, and so is the way the rest of the song is sung. I love this song mostly because of the catchy lines, but also because it is a great song. To me, this song deserves #5 on my list.

4. Three-Thirty

by AJR

Three-Thirty by AJR is one of my favorite songs of the year because of it's realism. This song is really about what lead singer Jack Evan Met is thinking. He talks how there is a deeper meaning to the song, and in the chorus he sings "Quick, before you skip the song, we are human after all, and we don't stay for long." Throughout the song, he sings about questions that seem impossible to answer. The song is called Three-Thirty and is Three minutes and Thirty seconds long, possibly to demonstrate the realism or the reality of the situation ("We don't stay for long"), but also maybe for another reason. If you want to learn more about this song, click this link. This song is really good music-wise, but also really makes you think, and for that, it has earned #4 on my list.

3. DNA

by Kendrick Lamar

DNA by Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite songs this year because of the way it is sung. Kendrick has a really nice flow going throughout the song, and it is really fun to listen to. DNA is about his black heritage and the stereotypes surrounding his race. Really, I just love Kendrick Lamar's style and I love listening to this song, and so it is #3.

2. Overture

by AJR

Overture by AJR is one of my favorite songs this year because it sounds incredible, and because of the idea around it. Overture is a song in which AJR "summarizes" their album by playing around with different parts of each song. AJR is an electronic-pop band, and so this works really well. In their first album, Living Room, they had an overture also. This song combines the best parts, the beat drops, words that go well together, and incredible music with more of all that. Every song has a little part, and in the music video it tells you which song is which when they are playing it. Overture by AJR is an incredible sounding track that brings out the best in their music, and for that I award it #2 on my list.

1. Butterfly Effect

by Travis Scott

Butterfly Effect is incredible. Most top rap songs lists demoted to around 25th or 30th, but it is my favorite song of the year.

Travis Scott's auto-tuned vocals mixed with background vocals that make the song what it is are a beautiful combo. I'd heard of Travis Scott, but not really listened to his music until I found this song. In my opinion, nothing I listened to this year surpassed the same level of greatness as Butterfly Effect, and it deserves #1 for that, but also for so much more.
